13th Street, The Action and Suspense Channel in Hamburg Germany, implemented "Blood Bath," a clever advertising installation in a nightclub bathroom to promote their exclusive thrillers and horror films. Shortly after entering the bathroom the lights go out and black light illuminates the room revealing the remnants of a bloody crime scene with the channel's logo on the bathroom mirror and the slogan, "See what others don't see." This, my friends, is a clever (albeit morbid) go at getting the word out, and personally (as someone who is marginally a part of the advertising biz), I would like to see more of this innovative, deviceful and interactive product peddling on a daily basis. The average person living in New York City sees nearly 3,000+ advertisements a day! If even 1 out of 30 of these ads were permeated with further interaction and imagination it might make our daily lives a tad more stimulating. Creativity begets more creativity people! Don't just think outside the box, reinvent the box itself - fuck the box, how about a fuzzy octacontagon that reacts to sarcasm and turns it into techno music?
